Four more deaths push COVID-19 death toll to 1,763 in Manipur

None of the four COVID-19 victims reported on Wednesday in Manipur were vaccinated, the health department said.

Manipur's COVID-19 confirmed tally reached 1,11,975 as 377 more people were reported infected with the disease, while four more deaths pushed the death toll to 1,763, according to the latest update by the state health department.

The state's COVID-19 positivity rate stood at 10 per cent currently. 

Of the four COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Wednesday, two deaths were reported from Imphal East and one fatality each from Imphal West and Thoubal, according to a release issued by the state COVID-19 Common Control Room. Two of the victims had co-morbidities and none of them were vaccinated, it stated.

According to the release, Imphal West continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 145 cases, while Imphal East witnessed a sudden drop in daily positive cases with 66 new cases reported on Wednesday.

Of the new cases, 67 were from Bishnupur, 17 from Churachandpur, eight each from Kakching, 16 from Kangpokpi, 13 from Tamenglong, 18 from Ukhrul, seven from Thoubal, five from Chandel, three each from Noney and Pherzawl and one from Jiribam.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

The state also recorded new 441 recoveries, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 1,06,640. The recovery rate is 95.23 per cent, the release added.

Manipur now has 3,572 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,435 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and  332 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours, the release stated.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered vaccine reached 14,92,777 (first dose: 11,79,578 and second dose: 3,13,199) as of Wednesday.

According to the release, there are 372 vacant general beds and 71 ICU/HDU beds of COVID-19 in nine hospitals of Manipur.

In ILAND Hospital (Contact No. 9540404955/ 7085206820) there are 24 vacant general beds; in MSF, Little flower School (Contact No. 9311222947) there are 10 vacant general beds and five ICU/HDU beds; in CMC, Koirengei (Contact No. 9612636004/9612905628) there are 27 vacant general beds and six ICU/HDU beds.

In Iboyaima Hospital, Singjamei (Contact No.7005436870/ 9612022125) there are 19 vacant general beds and three ICU/HDU beds; in Jivan Hospital, Kakching (Contact No. 9366034272/ 7085348366) there are 16 vacant general beds and seven ICU/HDU beds; in Shija Hospital (Contact No. 7005097688/7005125158) there are 35 vacant general beds and 22 ICU/HDU beds.

In Raj Medicity (Contact No.7005105552/9366496411) there are 68 vacant general beds and 14 ICU/HDU beds, in RIMS (Contact No. 7640862396) there are 127 vacant general beds and 14 ICU/HDU beds and in JNIMS (Contact No. 8131855346) there are 46 general beds and zero ICU/HDU, it mentioned.
