A total of 426 tested positive for COVID-19 at Nongdam-Leimakhongmapal of Lamlai assembly constituency, Imphal East. Out of the total positive cases, 209 tested positive during a mass testing in Nongdam and Leimakhonmapal area.
During the mass testing, a total of 1070 people underwent COVID-19 test on Monday. As many as 217 persons tested positive while conducting COVID-19 test at hospital.
To assist the needy person of the area co-opted member of Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), Achoibam Deben handed over essential items, including medicine and rations at 338 households of the area, including Nongdam, Laimakhongmapal, Sekta Mayai Leikai, Sawombung gate, Pungdongbam Uyungmakhong, Tellou, Yourbung and Sawombung Kabuio village.
Councillor of Lamlai Municipal Council, Irom Rojen told reporters that to prevent the severe impact of COVID-19 infection people should get early vaccination. Despite early vaccination, people should strictly follow certain guidelines issued by the authority concerned and instead of waiting the initiatives from that state government each individual should take necessary precautionary measures to avoid the virus infection, he added.
If the people failed to take precautionary measures to avoid from the virus infection then it will be hard to control the spread of the pandemic, said Rojen.
Representatives of Lamlai Block Congress Committee; Lamlai Kendra Development Political Forum; Hill Area Development Committee; Lamlai Block Mahila Youth Congress Committee; volunteers of Lamlai Kendra COVID-19 second wave information centres were attended. Inmates of Ching Tam Junior High School, Yaingangpokpi covid care centre was given a meal.
