COVID-19 donations pour in at Tamenglong quarantine centres

Donations of fresh vegetables from villagers came even from farflung villages such as Tousem, Bhalok and Kahulong.

As more returnees from outside Manipur return home and are being quarantined, more people and villages have come forward to donate fresh vegetables and firewood for quarantine centres in Tamenglong district headquarters.

The donation of fresh vegetables came even from far flung villages like Tousem village, Bhalok and Kahulong village. The donated materials were handed over to the deputy commissioner of Tamenglong Armstrong Pame by the respective villagers on Thursday.

It is worth mentioning here that there are 13 community quarantine centres in Tamenglong district, including three in Tousem sub-division and two in Tamei headquarters.

As many as 495 people are staying in the 13 community quarantine centres, out of which 253 are males and 175 are females, including two infants.

Meanwhile, One Stop Centre Tamenglong under district administration Tamenglong has distributed sanitary napkins to returnees who are staying at Tamenglong headquarters quarantine centre, including United Builders School, Don Bosco KG school and Don Bosco high school, Pretty Lamb Institute, Christian Model English Higher Secondary school, Tamenglong Higher secondary and Model village high school.

Tamei MLA Awangbou Newmei, during his visits to all community quarantine centres in Tamenglong district, has donated a sum of Rs 20,000 for Pretty Lamb Institute; Rs 15,000 for Tamenglong Higher Secondary School; Rs 5,000 for Don Bosco (JR); Rs 10,000 for United Builder School; Rs 20, 000 for Don Bosco; Rs 15, 000 for CMES and Rs 5,000 for Model Village High.

He also encouraged and wished all inmates at the quarantine centres to properly maintain the protocol laid down for them and save themselves and others.
