Lilong Police arrested an individual on charges of vehicle theft at Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam on Wednesday.
According to police sources, a team of Lilong Police Station personnel led by ASI Md Giyasuddin were conducting normal curfew enforcement frisking and checking operation at Lilong Turel Ahanbi Dam when a suspected individual approached on a white-coloured Honda Activa HET scooter without any registration number at about 5pm on Wednesday.
After he was detained for verification at the frisking point, the individual identified himself as one Md Ayub Khan also known as Mane, 28, son of Mv Abdul Jalil of Hiyangthang Tarahei Chingya. He could not produce any RC book or any other relevant documents to prove ownership of the vehicle.
Upon further verification, Ayub Khan disclosed that he had stolen the said vehicle from the roadside of Hatta Golapati near the water supply in the morning of July 31.

A regular case has been registered against accused Ayub Khan under FIR No. 76(08)2021 LIL- PS U/S 379 IPC for investigation, police sources added.
