A road mishap in Thoubal area on Wedmesday claimed the life of one person and left four others seriously injured, police sources said.
As per police sources, the man who died on the spot of the accident has been identified as one Md Tayeb Ali, 50-year-old son of late Md Shaokat Ali of Ngariyan Awang Leikai in Imphal East.
The ill fated incident took place at Thoubal Wangkhem, near the market area along Yairipok Thoubal road at around 8.50 am on Wednesday, the police said.
The police said the incident took place when one Tata DI DX white in colour bearing registration number MN05C/1830 coming from Thoubal side towards Yairipok side and one Bajaj Auto black in colour bearing registration number MN01Y/9209 coming from opposite direction collided at the said spot.
In that, MdTayeb Ali who was among the occupants of the Auto succumbed due to his injury and the driver and other occupant of the auto sustained injuries. They were rushed to JNIMS hospital.
Police has registered a case and deposited the dead body at JNIMS mortuary for post mortem.
