Lovlina Borgohain bagged bronze in women's boxing welterweight 64-69 kg, delivering the third Olympic medal for India at Tokyo 2020 on Wednesday.
Lauding her tenacity and determination, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and congratulated Lovlina Borgohain for winning the Bronze Medal.
"Well fought @LovlinaBorgohai! Her success in the boxing ring inspires several Indians. Her tenacity and determination are admirable. Congratulations to her on winning the Bronze. Best wishes for her future endeavours. #Tokyo2020," Modi tweeted.
Lovlina settled for broze after losing to world champion Busenaz Surmeneli (0-5) on Wednesday.
Expressing joy, Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma also congratulated the daughter of his state and posted on Twitter that her name will be etched in golden letters in the history of Assam.
"Congratulations to Assam’s daughter @LovlinaBorgohai
for bringing home the bronze medal in #Olympics boxing. Your name will be etched in golden letters in the history of Assam. The entire nation is proud of your phenomenal achievement," Sarma tweeted.
Union Minister of Law and Justice Kiren Rijiju also took to Twitter and congratulated Lovlina on winning another medal at the Olympics for India.
"Dear @LovlinaBorgohai, you have made our country proud! Hearty congratulations on winning Olympic Bronze medal! We are extremely proud of your achievement!" Rijiju tweeted.
