Joint Tribes Council to observe 6th anniversary of ‘Framework Agreement’
The JTC stated that there will be total shutdown in all areas of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people in Manipur, especially in Tamenglong and Noney districts from midnight to 12 noon of August.
The ‘Joint Tribes' Council of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme People of Manipur’ on Sunday announced that the joint councils in line with other Naga people's organisations the world over will observe the 6th anniversary of the signing of the ‘Framework Agreement’ between the Government of India and the Naga people represented by the NSCN (I-M).
The Council in a statement stated that there will be a total shutdown in all areas of Inpui, Liangmai, Rongmei and Zeme people in Manipur, especially in Tamenglong and Noney districts from midnight to 12 noon of August 3.
Appealing to all concerned to observe total shutdown accordingly, the statement stated that all schools/ institutions, business establishments and offices will remain closed and plying of vehicles along highways and towns will be halted during the shutdown.
The statement further stated that the joint council will conduct consultation meetings on the Naga Political Issue from 1 pm of August 3 at Tamenglong headquarters.
The statement requested all intellectuals and leaders from all walks of life, including local officers, CVO leaders, political leaders, village authority chairmen and secretaries, president and secretary of village-level youth and women societies to attend and participate in the consultation meeting.
The consultative meeting will submit a letter to the Prime Minister of India with a demand for early solution to the vexed Naga political imbroglio, it added.
