Fake certificate holder selected as ECG technician at RIMS: AMSU
The AMSU said it will send a report to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry to probe into the corruption cases.
The All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) on Thursday demanded that ECG technicians engaged recently on contract basis for six months at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) should be quashed immediately, alleging that of five posts, three were allegedly found to be not qualified while one was found using a fake certificate.
AMSU will send a report to the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry to probe into the cases of corruption at the hospital, said AMSU vice-president Laishram Athouba during a press conference held at its head office located at DM University campus, Imphal on Thursday.
“Necessary action should be taken against the board members, staff and others involved in connection with the recruitment. AMSU will send a complaint letter to the health ministry at the earliest,” he said.
Athouba said on June 30 an advertisement for recruitment of ECG technicians signed by deputy director (administration), RIMS was issued. Of the total posts, four were reserved for unreserved candidates and one for scheduled tribe candidates, he said.
He further said the personal interview for the said posts was conducted on July 6, and the result was declared the next day by an administrative officer, RIMS.
Athouba said that of the five engaged candidates, one selected candidate was allegedly found using a fake diploma certificate from Bharat Sevak Samaj, West Bengal while two were found to be unqualified as their diploma courses were incomplete.
AMSU had earlier submitted a memorandum at the ministry concerned for upgrading RIMS hospital to the level of AIIMS. However, it is unfortunate that even in the health sector and hospitals like RIMS, some people are carrying out nepotism and corruption, he added.
AMSU has found corruption in the recruitment process of five ECG technicians at RIMS hospital, Athouba said.
He said the authority concerned should conduct a new recruitment process for the said post and should select candidates on merit basis.
