The Kuki Inpi Manipur (KIM), the apex body of the Kukis in Manipur lauded the achievement of Saikhom Mirabai Chanu, which ended India's 21 years long wait for a weightlifting medal in the Olympics.
KIM president Khaimang Chongloi said, “We celebrated Mirabai Chanu's glory by winning a silver medal in the Tokyo Olympics. The 26-year-old weightlifter has opened India's medal tally in the Tokyo Olympics.”
He continued that Mirabai Chanu had ensured the country for a sparkling start in the early events of the Olympics. She scripted history by becoming the first Indian weightlifter to win a silver medal in the ongoing Olympics at Tokyo.

“Her win at the Tokyo Olympics has ended India's 21 years wait for a weightlifting medal with her stupendous performance and brought smiles to the 120 crore Indians. I congratulate Mirabai Chanu for the prestigious medal and thank her for the glorious win in the Tokyo Olympics,” said Chongloi.
Mirabai not only won a medal for the country but brought the most beautiful laurel for the state and for all the Manipuris, he added.
Kim president further said that Mirabai Chanu's glory will also motivate other Indian players in the Olympics as well and people have faith upon them that they will gain motivation from Chanu's victory and win more medals for the country and the state.
