The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Thursday chargesheeted two persons of a militant outfit for lobbing bombs at Governor Bungalow.
NIA filed the chargesheet before the NIA Special Court, Manipur in connection with the attack on security forces in Imphal under the case (RC-06/2021/NIA/DLI) against the two accused namely Lisham Ibosana Meitei alias Jojo alias Michael alias Kengba alias Red and Konsam Manithoi Singh, u/s 120B, 307 of IPC, Sections 16, 18, 20 and 38 of UA(P) Act, 1967 and Section 4 of Explosive Substances Act, 1908 in RC-06/2021/NIA-DLI.

A release by NIA stated that the case was initially registered as FIR No. 11(01)2021 on January 19, 2021 u/s 16(1)(b) and 20 of UA(P) Act and Section 4 of Explosive Substances Act, 1908 at City Police Station, Imphal West district, relating to lobbing of hand grenade by unknown persons at security forces at Raj Bhavan Gate in Imphal. NIA re-registered the case as RC-06/2021/NIA-DLI on March 5, 2021 and took over the investigation.
The investigation has revealed that the chargesheeted accused persons were part of deep rooted conspiracy to execute terrorist acts with the aim to terrorise the general population and to wage war against the Indian state. The act was carried out by the accused persons on the direction of the hierarchy of the militant outfit, who had arranged explosive materials for them. Further investigation is going on in the case, it added.
