Concerning the issues on Asian Highway expansion along the NH-2, the Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairmen/Chiefs Association (AHLAVCCA) and other bodies on Thursday reportedly refused an appeal made by the DC for taking a survey.

District administration Kangpokpi in the presence of Kangpokpi assembly constituency MLA Nemcha Kipgen held a joint meeting with representatives of all stakeholders in connection with the Asian Highway expansion issue along the NH-2 at Conference Hall, DC office Kangpokpi.

The joint meeting was attended by the Asian Highway Land Affected Villages Chairmen/Chiefs Association (AHLAVCCA), Kangpokpi District Joint Chief Coordinating Committee on Land Matters, TSA Sadar Hills, and All Manipur Gorkha Students' Union Manipur.

According to sources, DC Kangpokpi Somorjit Salam urged the representative of AHLAVCCA and other representatives during the meeting to allow a survey of the standing properties by PWD.

However, AHLAVCCA and other representatives strongly objected to the appeal made by the deputy commissioner and categorically stated that until and unless the land matters are resolved, no work related to the Asian Highway expansion be carried out and no more talks and meetings will be entertained unless the areas under consideration have been declared as “unsurveyed land.”
