The Sky Hospital celebrated its Foundation Day on completion of 12 years of healthcare service to the people of Manipur and the neighbouring states of India at the conference hall of the hospital on Friday.

A release stated that the function was chaired by Dr Lairikyengbam Shyamkishore with medical superintendent, Dr Kh Shantikumar Singh and senior AO, L Manao Singh as dignitaries on the dais.

Dr Lairikyengbam Shyamkishore, the first Mamipuri cardiologist (heart specialist), with FRCP (London) from Royal College of Physician, London and extensive experience in London as consultant started the heart hospital, 12 years ago on June 26, it said.

Sky Hospital performed open heart surgery for the first time in the history of Manipur in 2015, it stated. Device closure of hole in the heart was performed in the same year, it said.

Other complex and sophisticated procedures like balloon dilatation of Mitral valve/pulmonary valve, RF ablation of palpitation (PSVT/VT), combo implant, pacemaker/ICD implant operation etc. are regularly performed, it added.

The hospital also started Heart Attack Centre (HAC) in 2016 providing 24×7 service with cardiologist onsite, the release said. This gives accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment quickly, thereby saving more lives, it added.

The chairman of Sky Hospital further stated that since its inception hundreds and thousands of lives have been saved at the hospital, it stated. They will continue to provide free open heart surgery and device closure of heart-hole for children of Manipur and Northeast India and other patients belonging to BPL family under various schemes, it added.

He further appealed to the people of the region to be aware of the availability of highly sophisticated and modern equipment and infra-structure of the hospital. He also appealed the people to avail the free operations/procedures at the hospital, it added.
