Eid Al-Adha 2021: Manipur CM Biren extends greetings, urges all to maintain Covid Appropriate Behaviour during festival

Manipur Chief Minister appealed to the Muslim brethren to restrict the celebration by performing ritual and prayer within the confines of their homes and by observing Covid Appropriate Behaviour.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Tuesday conveyed his greetings to the people of Manipur on the joyous occasion of Eid Al-Adha, 2021.

In his message, the chief minister said the festival, which marks the end of Hajj and commemorates the faith of Prophet Ibrahim and his devotion to Allah, signifies the spirit of sacrifice rising above the narrow barriers of one's ego and self-interest for the good of all.

“In view of the prevailing situation arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic in the state, I appeal to our Muslim brethren to restrict the celebration by performing ritual and prayer within the confines of their homes and by observing the Covid Appropriate Behaviour. May the festival strengthen brotherhood and harmony and bring peace and prosperity to our state,” he added.

Works Minister Th Biswajit Singh also extended his wishes and greetings to the people of the state, especially the Muslim brethren on the holy occasion of Eid-al-Adha.

Eid-al-Adha, also known as the festival of sacrifice, commemorates Prophet Ibrahim's faithfulness and obedience to God, he stated in his message.

“This year, as we continue to battle the COVID-19 pandemic, I urge the people of Manipur to follow Covid appropriate behaviour and help in breaking the chain of infection. Let all of us draw inspiration from the values of sacrifice and charity that are celebrated during this auspicious occasion. May the joy of Eid surround us all. Eid Mubarak to all,” he stated.  

Conveying his wishes and greetings on the occasion, Tourism Minister Oinam Lukhoi Singh stated that Id-ul-Adha marked the bowing down of Man to God's command and the occasion is celebrated as one of supreme sacrifice in obedience to the will of the Almighty.

“On this holy occasion, let us all resolve to uphold the virtue of divinity in human beings by promoting the values of generosity, tolerance and compassion amongst all of us. Let us also adhere to the COVID-19 SOPs laid down by the government during the celebration,” he stated in his message.

Employment Minister Th Satyabrata Singh also extended his greeting, stating, “With the advent of this festival, let's pray that our sincere prayers be answered and loads of peace and prosperity be showered upon us. Let's instil in ourselves the stamina to fight tough times and hardships with optimism.”

“I appeal to one and all to undergo vaccination, follow SOP, wear masks, maintain social distancing and take precautions to curb the rampant disease,” he added.  

 
Manipur Legislative Assembly Speaker Yumnam Khemchand Singh also extended his wishes to Muslim brethren on upcoming of Bakrid or Eid- Al- Adha.

In a release, he stated: “I, on this occasion, wish every Muslim brothers and sisters in the state a happy Eid-Al-Adha”.
 
Id-ul-Zuha, the festival of sacrifice, falls on the Islamic month of Dhul Dhu al-Hijjah, and it is celebrated with traditional fervour and gaiety across the world. The festival .
