As a part of the activities carried out under Seva Hi Sangathan-II, former deputy speaker, MK Preshow Shimray on Monday visited 10 villages of Chingai assembly constituency and gave awareness on mass vaccination.
Speaking to the media through a voice note, Preshow said that vaccination is much needed in the entire state to prevent the severe impact of COVID-19. The pandemic cannot be controlled if the people of Ukhrul do not cooperate during the vaccination drive in the district.
Stating the MLA of the assembly constituency failed to conduct a mass vaccination campaign, he added that hardly 10 people were vaccinated in an area with 1,000 populations. The lack of vaccination in the area is due to lack of awareness campaign on COVID-19 vaccination. People must stop believing in rumours against the vaccination that some people are spreading, said Preshow.
The awareness campaign for mass vaccination was conducted at 10 villages of Chingai assembly constituency, including Chingjaroy, Razai Kn, Namrei, Luireishimphung, Ngahui, Kuirei, Kalhang, Nungbi and Longbi Kachui.
During the programme, the former deputy speaker also extended his assistance to the farmers of Chingjaroy village in supplying water to the paddy fields through a 7 HP water pump set during this season of drought like situation.
Preshow said the villagers have assured him to get early vaccination while extending their gratitude towards Chief Minister N Biren and Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing free ration amid pandemic.
