Three workers of a construction company were killed and several others injured in a landslide that occured near Nungba police station in Noney district of Manipur on Monday, sources said.
The landslide occured around 2.50 pm, at about 8 km towards Thingou, 15 km north from Nungba police station, police said.
The incident took place when the workers of Sajan Choudhury Construction were engaged in the construction of one culvert near bridge No. 65 of the NF railway line. The workers were buried under the debris.
The three deceased have been identified as one Kartik Mondal (46 yrs), son of Bonbihari Mondal of Nabonari Tala 1 Byelane, PO- Baksara, PS- Shibpur B-Garden, District- Howrah, West Bengal, Munu Rabha (21 yrs), son of Chandra Kanta Rabha of Uttar Barbil, Shantipur, PO- Barpani Bagan, PS- Kachua, District- Nagaon, Assam, and is Deep Rabha (18 yrs), son of Ghana Kant Rabha of of Uttar Barbil, Shantipur, PO- Barpani Bagan, PS- Kachua, District- Nagaon, Assam.
The three bodies have been retrieved. But details of the incident are awaited as the landslide area has unfortunately no network coverage, police said.
