Manipur witnessed a quiet Sunday with curfew imposed across the state to combat the surging second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. But 963 new COVID-19 positive cases pushed the cumulative case tally to 84,822, while the death toll mounted to 1,376 with 11 more fatalities, according to the latest update by the state health department on Sunday.
Of the 11 COVID-19 fatalities recorded on Sunday, three each were reported from Imphal West and Imphal East, two each from Bishnupur and Chandel and one from Kakching, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to report the highest number of new COVID-19 cases with 268 and 201 cases respectively.
As many as 110 cases were reported from Churachandpur, 81 from Thoubal, 107 from Bishnupur, 15 from Tamenglong, 87 from Kakching, seven from Jiribam, nine from Senapati, three from Ukhrul, three from Kamjong, 33 from Chandel, 34 from Kangpokpi, one from Noney and four from Pherzawl.
The state also recorded 723 new recoveries in a span of 24 hours, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 73,770. The recovery rate is 86.97 per cent, the release added.
Manipur now has 9,676 COVID-19 active cases, as per the release.
Meanwhile, a total of 2,320 D-type Oxygen Cylinders and 358 B-type Oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health institutions and health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been inoculated with Covid vaccine reached 10,36,124.
"The number of patients as on today admitted/adjusted against available bed strengths in different treatment facilities in the state are RIMS (218/224), JNIMS (238/286), I Land Hospital (39/60), District Covid Facilities (159/347), MSF (25/30), Private Covid Hospitals (235/310) and CCCs (1553/2946). The grand total of admitted patients is 2,467 and number of beds available is 1,736," the release stated.
