Assam’s COVID-19 death toll climbs to 4,937

Assam reported 27 more COVID-19 deaths and 1992 new COVID-19 positive cases.

Assam’s COVID-19 death toll rose to 4,937 with the death of 27 more infected patients, while the confirmed caseload reached 5,42,445 as 1,992 more people tested positive in a single day, as per the latest update by official sources.

Of the 27 new fatalities, five deaths were reported from Jorhat, four from Dibrugarh and two each from Cachar, Darrang, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong, Morigaon, and Sonitpur, and one death each from Barpeta, Biswanath, Hojai, Kamrup Rural, Kokrajhar, and Tinsukia.

The death rate stood at 0.91 per cent, while the positivity rate was 1.65 per cent.

Karump Metro continued to report the highest single day new positive cases of 263, followed by Golaghat with 157, Lakhimpur 135.

The total number of recoveries rose to 5,17,041 as of Thursday and the recovery rate moved to 95.32 per cent. With it, the total number of active cases in the state fell to 19,120.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccine doses have been administered to 85,41,055 people across the state under the Nationwide vaccination drive as of Thursday.
