As the scheduled date for declaration of examination result approaches, the Council of Higher Secondary Education Manipur (COHSEM) on Tuesday appealed to the higher secondary schools to submit the students’ performance reports by Thursday, July 15, as most schools reportedly have not submitted them yet.

Speaking to the media through a video conference, COHSEM chairman Lamabam Mahendra said that COHSEM had directed all higher secondary schools of the state to form their respective assessment or evaluation committees, and instructed them to submit the students’ performance reports by July 15. Of the 192 higher secondary schools in the state, only around 50 of them have submitted the reports, he said.

Mahendra expressed serious concerns about the fate of the student community and appealed to all the remaining schools to put extra efforts and submit the required performance reports on time.

Submitting the performance report late to COHSEM may delay the declaration of examination results which will ultimately impact the student community as they will miss the opportunity to take admissions at reputed colleges and universities, he added.

He also said that the entrance test for the NEET, JEE and JEE Advance is likely to be announced soon in the coming 2-3 days. Moreover, Delhi University and other universities outside the state will start issuing their admission forms on July 15, he said. “Therefore, the declaration of examination results early is much required; otherwise, it may discourage or sabotage the career of many of our aspiring future scholars,” he added.

He also said that COHSEM had earlier decided to declare the result on any date between July 20 to 24 but as per the directives of the Supreme Court, the examination results of CBSE should be declared by July 31.

In view of all these, all schools authorities are requested to submit their students’ performance reports by the said date, so that COHSEM can declare the results on time to save the academic career of the students, Mahendra said.

The chairman also said that for those students (Casual or regular) who could not submit their forms on time have also been given the opportunity to appear in the examination and all guidelines have been provided. The last date for submission of the performance report is July 17.  If in case of any confusion the school authority can clarify it with the COHSEM authority, Mahendra said.
