Manipur's COVID-19 positive caseload on Monday crossed 78000-mark, while the death toll mounted to 1,287 with 15 more fatalities in a span of 24 hours, the state health department said.
With 890 new positive cases, the state's COVID-19 tally surged to 78,621 on Monday.
As per the latest updates from the state health department, a total of 6,521 test results were received on Monday, of which 890 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received so far was 9,62,488, it added.
Imphal West and Imphal East continued to record the highest number of daily COVID-19 cases with 347 and 153 cases respectively. The other new COVID-19 cases included 83 from Churachandpur, 74 from Thoubal, 69 from Bishnupur, 59 from Tamenglong, 37 from Kakching, 21 from Kamjong, 17 from Kangpokpi, 13 from Senapati, five each from Tengnoupal and Chandel, four from Jiribam, two from Ukhrul and one from Noney, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Of the COVID-19 fatalities recorded in the state on Monday, eight deaths were from Imphal West alone. Churachandpur and Bishnupur recorded two deaths each, while one death each was from Imphal East, Thoubal and Kakching, according to the release.
Meanwhile, 590 new recoveries pushed the cumulative number of recovered cases to 69,814. The state's recovery rate is 88.78 per cent and the number of COVID-19 active cases stands at 7,520 as of Monday, the release stated.
It further stated that a total of 1,796 D-type oxygen cylinders and 376 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours.
As per the latest updates, the cumulative number of doses of COVID-19 vaccine administered in Manipur reached 8,76,274 (First dose: 7,81,818 and second dose: 94,456).
