Manipur logs 852 new COVID-19 positive cases, tally crosses 76000-mark

Manipur's COVID-19 caseload on Friday crossed 76000-mark while the death toll mounted to 1,251 with 10 more fatalities, the state health department said.

A total of 5,400 test results were received on Friday, of which 852 were found positive for COVID-19. The cumulative number of test results received is 9,43,697, the state health department said.

With 852 new COVID-19 positive cases in 24 hours period the state's tally reached 76,032, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.

As many as 276 new COVID-19 cases were reported from Imphal west alone while Imphal East reported 150 cases. The other new COVID-19 cases included 97 from Kakching, 95 from Churachandpur, 85 from Thoubal, 66 from Bishnupur, 29 from Kangpokpi, 19 from Senapati 14 from Chandel, five each from Tamenglong and Jiribam, four each from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) and Tengnoupal district, two from Ukhrul and one from Kamjong, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

Of the 10 COVID-19 fatalities recorded in Manipur on Friday, three deaths were from Imphal West, two each were from Imphal East and Kakching while Thoubal, Kangpokpi, thoubal and Churachandpur reported one death each, as per the release.

The state also recorded 490 new recoveries on Friday. Moreover, 469 persons were reported as discharged cases only on Friday due to various reasons. Therefore, the total number of recovered cases is considered as 959 after reconciliation with reports from IDSP team, home isolation team, community home isolation and hospitalisation team as on Friday. With these new recoveries the cumulative number of recovered cases in Manipur surged to 68,171, leaving the number of COVID-19 active cases at 6,610 and recovery rate at 89.66 per cent, the release stated.

Meanwhile, a total of 2,265 D-type oxygen cylinders and  419 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the last 24 hours, it stated.

As per the latest update, the total number of people who have been administered COVID-19 vaccine had reached 8,51,377 (first dose: 7,59,195 and second dose: 92,182).
