Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be interacting with Tokyo Olympics-bound Indian sportspersons on July 13 virtually to motivate them ahead of their participation in the forthcoming 2020 Summer Olympics.

The Prime Minister on Friday reviewed preparations for facilitation of India’s contingent at Tokyo-2020 and discussed the logistical details, their vaccination status, and the multi-disciplinary support being given.

"On behalf of 130 crore Indians, I would be interacting with the Olympics bound athletes on 13th July to wish them luck. Let us all #Cheer4India," PM Modi tweeted.

The first batch of Olympic-bound Indian athletes will depart for Tokyo on July 17 in a charter Air India flight. More than 120 Indian athletes are bound for the Tokyo Olympics, reports said.

The Tokyo 2020 will be held from July 23 to August 8 without spectators after Japan declared a state of emergency in Tokyo in view of the surging COVID-19 cases.
