Two officials served show-cause notice for issuing vaccination certificates to non-vaccinated persons in Thoubal

The notice issue by the Thoubal DC stated that written explanations must be submitted before the DC of Thoubal within 48 hours from the date of receipt of the notice.

Thoubal district deputy commissioner Rangnamei Rang Peter on Tuesday issued a show-cause notice to two officials (COWIN verifier) for issuing Covid vaccination certificates to four persons without having been given the Covid vaccine to them.

As per sources, the show cause notice served by the DC mentioned that the two officials involved in the case are Md Abdul Kadir and Md Rafique Ali, and both are both primary teachers at Moijing High School.

The incident took place after the completion of a vaccination session scheduled at Thoubal Awang Leikai, Community Hall on Monday, the show-cause notice from the DC mentioned.

Citing the report submitted by the doctor-in-charge of the vaccination team regarding the misconduct, the show cause notice from the DC of Thoubal stated that such misuse of COWIN application by the verifier is considered as a serious misconduct by a government servant.

This irresponsible act will also defeat the very objective of conducting mass Covid vaccination programmes. Therefore, the two officials are hereby issued show cause notice as to why strict disciplinary actions should not be initiated against them, the notice stated.

It further mentioned that written explanations must be submitted before the DC of Thoubal within 48 hours from the date of receipt of this notice.

Meanwhile, COVID-19 vaccination drives were carried out at various places of Thoubal district on Tuesday.

In regard to Heirok assembly constituency, the COVID-19 vaccination drive is continuing at full swing with vaccination programmes being held on Tuesday at various parts of Heirok including Langmeithet village and Heirok Keithel.

The vaccination programme at Langmeithet village was organised jointly by the Relief Committee against COVID-19 Heirok assembly constituency and the residents of the village. Pradhan, Lourembam GP, Khoirom Sanahanbi Devi and ward member, Lourembam GP Takhellambam Romen played instrumental roles in organising the vaccination programme.

The Heirok Municipal Council (HMC) in association with the COVID-19 task force Heirok assembly constituency also organised a mass vaccination programme at Heirok Keithel on Tuesday. The programme was organised with the objective of vaccinating people from the area which falls under the jurisdiction of HMC.

Khong Ahanbi Youth Association, Kiyam Siphai in association with Thoubal Municipal Council and under the aegis of district administration Thoubal also organised a vaccination programme at the Community Hall of Kiyam Siphai Khong Ahanbi.

The camp was organised specifically for individuals who missed out on vaccination opportunities during the first phase of the COVID-19 Vaccination campaign
