Vaccination is the only remedy to prevent from the severe impact of COVID-19 and to stay safe from its third wave, said Speaker Y Khemchand while speaking to the media after taking his second dose of vaccine at the community hall of Singjamei Waikhom Leikai on Tuesday.
Khemchand said that in continuation of mass COVID-19 vaccination across the country under the initiatives of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, COVID help line centre, Singjamei has been organising free COVID-19 vaccination in the assembly constituency. The vaccination programme has been conducted at Urban Health Centre also.
In his assembly constitution, about 1,800 people have been vaccinated till Monday, however the number of vaccination would cross 2,000 by today, he added.
He said that people who are left out for vaccination are requested to contact the concerned DC in order to get vaccinated.
The speaker further said that the only remedy to prevent severe impact of COVID-19 would be early vaccination. The vaccination programme will be continuing till the entire eligible population of the assembly constituency is covered.
A total of 491 people were admitted at Singjamei Home Isolation Centre till date, out of which 384 were discharged after being recovered. Presently, 44 inmates are staying at the said isolation centre and 63 have been referred to other centres and hospitals for further treatment.
