After receiving 40 tons of ration items to cover 2,500 households last Sunday under the support of Crypto Relief India and Project Umeed, the Centre for Community Initiative (CCI) distributed the items to the families hit by COVID-19 on Tuesday.

The ration items were provided to the COVID-19 infected families, auto drivers, rickshaw pullers, barbers and daily wage earners from different villages.

To deliver the ration items to the needy people, CCI held talks with likeminded organisations like Highland Group, Sunbird, KSO, HYA, ZYA, Kholmun Youth Club and different village authorities.

More relief materials are expected to reach the district soon, including equipment for PHCs and CHCs, said CCI.

The items were transported to 43 villagers of G Bualzang village which is approximately 60 km from the district headquarters, it added.

The ration items from the Crypto Relief India included 12 kg of rice, mixed dal, sugar, 500 packets of tea leaves, packets of chillies and others. The total of 15 items also included sanitary pads.
