The Food Corporation of India, (FCI), and Regional Office Manipur on Tuesday announced that the PMGKAY that was extended to all beneficiaries covered under NFSA for the months of May-June, has been further extended from July to November 2021.

In view of the resurgent of COVID 19 pandemic, the Government of India had extended the PMGKAY to all beneficiaries covered under NFSA for the months of May-June at 5 kg per person per month, stated a release issued by deputy general manager (R) Gongreipou Kamei.

It stated that the total allocations for the two months were 18602 MT and they were fully lifted by the state government on June 10. The scheme benefited 18.60.159 persons (AAY-1,76,699 and PHI-1-16,83,460), it added.

The number of beneficiaries under the NFSA has decreased since April, and consequently, allocation of foodgrains has also decreased due to non-linking of ration cards with Aadhaar, it stated. The beneficiaries whose ration cards are linked with Aadhaar may be able to draw ration from any e-PoS operated Fair Price Shops (FPS) anywhere in the country under the One Nation One Ration Card (ONORC), it added.
