New COVID-19 guidelines will be implemented after review meeting: CM Biren

The Manipur chief minister that a review meeting will be conducted on Tuesday and will be attended by health experts and doctors. After the meeting, a new guideline will be issued to be implemented from the first week of July.

Manipur Chief Minister N Biren Singh on Monday said that there will be new guidelines for COVID-19 to be followed in the state, which will be discussed in a review meeting to be held on Tuesday along with the experts and the decision will be implemented from the first week of July.

The chief minister was speaking during his visit in a mass vaccination programme conducted at the community hall of Laipham Khunou Youth Development Association Club (LKYDA) under Heingang assembly constituency.

CM Biren said that a review meeting will be conducted on Tuesday and will be attended by health experts and doctors. After the meeting, a new guideline will be issued to be implemented from the first week of July.

The state had already witnessed the drastic increase in COVID-19 cases when the restriction was relaxed to an extent. The state government will not take risks this time and a firm decision will be taken in the review meeting even though the government has been taking various initiatives for the safety of the people, he added.

LKYDA secretary, Ngasepam Rakeshwore said that the vaccination programme that was carried out in the locality covered by the club, altogether 229 people were given first dose of the vaccine and five persons were inoculated with second dose.

The club members and volunteers have been monitoring in Laipham Khunou and Sangakpham area whether the shopkeepers and street vendors are following SOPs. They also conducted awareness rally in the area. They also distributed hand sanitisers, face masks and essential items to the people of the areas covered by LKYDA, he added.
