Manipur’s COVID-19 caseload crosses 68000-mark

A total of 432 more persons tested positive for COVID-19 in Manipur.

Manipur’s COVID-19 caseload on Monday crossed the 68000-mark after 432 more persons were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in a span of 24 hours, official sources said.

The cumulative number of COVID-19 positive cases stands at 68,418, including 5,642 active cases and 61,646 recovered cases, according to a release issued by the COVID-19 Common  Control Room.

The new COVID-19 positive cases from general population included100 from Imphal West, 83from Imphal East, 85 from Thoubal, 49 from Bishnupur, 29 from Kangpokpi, 22 from Kakching, 44 from Churachandpur, eight from Tamenglong, four each from Chandel and Senapati, and two each from Ukhrul and Tengnoupal, the release stated.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, it stated.

COVID-19 claimed six more lives in Manipur during the same period, taking the death toll to 1,130. Imphal East and Churachandpur logged two deaths each while one death each was from  Kakching and  Kangpokpi, the release stated.

The state’s COVID-19 recovery rate improved to 90.10 per cent with 608 new recoveries.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,446 D-type oxygen cylinders and 445 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of Manipur in the last 24 hours. 

The total number of people who have been inoculated in the state reached 5,34,103, it added.
