International Widows day observed in Churachandpur

District Social Welfare Office Churachandpur and Social Human Action for Rural Empowerment Society, Churachandpur observed International Widows day at Themnu Old Age Care Home, Matta Churachandpur on Friday.

The widows day was organised as a part of weeklong celebration of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav’ (June 21 to June 27) in commemoration of 75 years of India’s independence. 

The day was organised under the theme ‘invisible women, invisible problems’.

District social welfare officer, Churachandpur Angom Tamphasana spoke as the resource person of the Widows day celebration. During her speech, Tamphasana gave awareness about the Indira Gandhi National Widow Pension Scheme which is provided under the Social Welfare department. Tamphasana also handed over essential items to the widows
