All above 18 years of age must get vaccinated: WAQF Board

WAQF Board, Manipur on Friday notified to all the imams of masjids/masjid committee members/madrassa committee members/mutawallis/madrassa teachers etc. registered under WAQF Board, Manipur, that as instructed by the state government, all persons above 18 years of age must get vaccinated for COVID-19.

It is to be noted that vaccination has been made mandatory for performing Hajj and Umrah, WAQF Board stated in a notification signed by chief executive officer Md S Daulat Khan.

“Health experts have strongly advocated that mass vaccination is an effective way to fight the ensuing pandemic. And hence, no one should spread unverified rumours or fall prey to such rumours about the vaccines,” it stated.

The Central Waqf Council (CWC), New Delhi, has also vide its letter of even number dated May 15, instructed all the WAQF related institutions across the country to play a vital role in mass vaccination campaign, it mentioned. It is therefore requested that all concerned get vaccinated at their nearest PHC/CHC/district hospitals/mobile/notified vaccination camps at the earliest and also, actively engage in vaccinating all eligible persons in their respective localities, it added.

Any difficulty in availing the vaccines may be intimated to project officer, WAQF Board, Manipur Md Tajuddin Shah (at 9366952766 or 8259822649), who in turn will immediately liaise with the concerned district authorities, it added.
