The Zeliangrong Tribal Council (ZTC) has demanded that the state government compensate the loss faced by villagers whose houses and vehicles were burnt during the Pongringlong (Charoipangdongba) village incident of June 17.

The state government must also take up necessary actions against all those involved in torching the houses and vehicles, ZTC stated in a release issued on Thursday.

ZTC also raised questions as to what actions the state government will take for the villages supporting such violent incidents and the Joint Action Committee for allegedly gathering youths to attack the Pongringlong village.

Alleging that the JAC was formed by Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (RNCM), ZTC also questioned whether the state government will remain silent over RNCM.

Claiming that the said youths were given a grand feast by Kalong (Tupul) village on June 16 i.e. the day before the incident, ZTC also demanded that the police department must also take necessary action over the Tupul and other villages which are supporting the incident.
