The Women Association for Socio-Economic Development (WASEDEV) strongly condemned the recent incident of kidnapping a minor girl at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak by one non-local and appealed to the authority concerned to punish the culprit at the earliest.
A release signed by WASEDEV president, RK Tharaksana said that the incident of kidnapping an 11 year-old minor girl on June 10 by a non-local staying at a rented house at Nagamapal Kangjabi Leirak was unfortunate. The ability to conduct such a heinous crime by a non-resident in the heart of Imphal city, which is congested all the time, shows the undermining of women in the state by non-locals. The state government should not take such cases lightly and punish the culprit at the earliest.
The minor girl was kidnapped throughout the night and left her in a car (Bolera) as if to let her die. Such an act is a heinous crime and cannot be tolerated. The minor would have succumbed if the passersby had not rescued her on time, it added.
WASEDEV urged the people of the state to be careful and take much information of the tenant while renting the house to any non-resident so as to prevent such crime in future, it added.
