COVID-19 claimed one more life in Manipur's Kangpokpi district, taking the death toll to 32 while nine new positive cases were reported on Tuesday, official sources said.
A 74-year-old man from Motbung Aithuh veng, Sehtinkhup alias Paseh Sitlhou succumbed to the virus on Monday, the sources said, adding that the deceased was later buried at Motbung cemetery following strict Covid protocols.
As per the update from the district surveillance officer, the number of COVID-19 active cases in the district dipped to 61, as eight patients, including six from home isolation and another two from Covid care centre, Leikop recovered from the infection on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, an on duty woman health worker at the Covid care centre, Leikop has reportedly tested positive for COVID-19 on Tuesday and has been referred for home isolation.
The Covid task force Kangpokpi volunteers had already sealed the residence of the COVID-19 positive health worker.
The Covid task force Kangpokpi volunteers also detained a few women vegetable sellers without Covid free certificates and brought them to the district hospital Kangpokpi and got them tested. They were all found to be negative.
