A team of Moreh Police Station and commando on Monday arrested an absconding person who was accused in an alleged sexual assault case of an eight-year-old minor girl.
According to the police, the arrested person was identified as Mangminlal Touthang, 33, son of Hemthang of Mission Veng, Moreh Ward No 2.
OC of Moreh PS, Dilipkumar told the media that a report about sexual assault of a minor was received from PHC Moreh on June 10.
Since then the Moreh police led by SI J Baite and SI K Tungnung have been searching for the accused who was absconding after committing the crime.
On receiving a specific input about the presence of the accused in the general area of T Bongmol village, which is located about 35 km away from Moreh Police Station, the police team led by SI J Baite immediately conducted a search operation around 12 midnight and arrested the accused at 12:30 pm from T Bongmol village on Monday, he added.
A case has been registered under FIR No.24(6) 2021 MRH-PS U/S 6 POCSO Act of 2012 against the accused person.
