A drug trafficker was arrested from Wangjing Bazar by Thoubal district police on Sunday.
A team of police personnel led by additional SP (Ops) Sachidananda Soibam and reserve inspector N Suresh Singh under the supervision of S Ibomcha Singh was conducting frisking and checking operations at Wangjing Bazar when a blue coloured CRETA car bearing registration no MN01AK 9300 was seen approaching towards Imphal side, Thoubal police stated in a release.
The vehicle was detained and on verification, the driver identified himself as Varadarajan also known as B Varadha Rajen, 42, son of (Late) Batya of Phaicham Veng, Bidna Part-II, Moreh Ward No III. And one soap cap containing 14.30 gm of suspected Heroin No 4 powder was recovered from inside the trunk of his vehicle, Thoubal Police stated.
Varadarajan was arrested and the suspected Heroin No 4 along with the vehicle, a mobile phone, and a sum of Rs 3510 was seized from his possession. The detained person along with the seized items has been handed over to Thoubal Police Station for further necessary legal actions, it added.
