The Manipur government on Sunday issued new orders for opening of vendors, grocery stores and wholesale markets in Imphal valley in view of the COVID-19 situation in the state.
The order signed by chairman, State Executive Committee, Dr Rajesh Kumar stated that local vegetable vendors can open their vendors from 7 am to 10 am on June 16, 19, 22, 25, and 28.
The order advised the vendors to maintain a distance of at least six feet away from one another and that they should also wear masks
The order stated that only one out of three grocery shops of the total shops / vendors in one location shall be allowed to open on rotational basis from 7am to 10 am on June 16, June 19, June 22, June 25 and June 28.
For shops or vendors located in congested rows, only alternate rows will be allowed to open. But, for shops on major roads like the national highway, both sides may open, it stated. It also instructed the shops and vendors to adopt a queue system.
It added that wholesale shops of grocery and food essentials in Thangal bazaar and Masjid road will be allowed to open from 7 am to 12 noon every day in a week.
The wholesale section will be open on Sunday for retailers from Imphal West and Imphal East, Monday for Senapati, Kangpokpi, Kamjong, Tuesday for retailers from Bishnupur, Noney and Tamenglong.
The wholesale section will be open on Wednesday for retailers from Ukhrul, Chandel and Pherzawl, Thursday for Thoubal Kaching and Tengnoupal.
On Friday, the wholesale section will open for retailers from Churachandpur and Jiribam. The wholesale section will be opened on Saturday for retailers from Imphal East and Imphal West, it added.
