The Thadou Students' Association (TSA) general headquarters on Wednesday apprised the IGAR (East) for providing free education and a compassionate appointment to children of late Mangboilal Lhouvum and his wife Neihoichong Lhouvum.

The Thadou students apex body while meeting the Assam Rifles authority in the presence of Major General Ranjit Singh, SM, VSM, inspector general of Assam Rifles (East) Cachar, Silchar, Assam today at 38 AR Kangpokpi post expressed their concern upon the children of late Mangboilal Lhouvum and submitted a memorandum to the IGAR (E) for free education and compassionate appointment to the wife of the deceased Mangboilal Lhouvum.

The Assam Rifles authority has been visiting the areas and met with the local civil bodies to build a better relationship and a peaceful environment.

The IGAR (E) had also reportedly visited the bereaved family of late Mangboilal Lhouvum at Chalwa a few days ago and met with the children and wife of the deceased and prayed for their well being apart from contributing financial assistance.

TSA in its memorandum signed by its general secretary Michael Lamjathang Haokip stated that with a number of rounds of meetings and negotiations, an agreement was reached between all parties/stakeholders involved concerning the death.

TSA, as a student organisation, feels that one other important thing has been ignored, namely education for the four children of the deceased, it added.

The student body then urged the Assam Rifles to provide free education to children of the deceased at least till graduations, maybe in terms of school fees or boarding fees, etc.

It also urged the AR to make every effort to find a job for the deceased's wife Neihoichong Lhouvum, on humanitarian grounds so as to enable her to take care of the families in the future.

General secretary Michael Lamjathang Haokip of the student body said that the response from the IGAR (E) was very optimistic, and they anticipated that it would be materialised sooner than later.
