The much awaited natural grass football ground at the Mini Stadium which is located in the heart of Tamenglong HQ is nearing its completion.
Amid heavy downpour, hectic planting of natural grass is being conducted. The construction of all the galleries on both sides have been completed while the compound fencing is also nearing completion.
Chief Minister N Biren Singh, when he visted Tamenglong on November 15, 2017, gave his assurance to the people of Tamenglong district to enhance and make the football ground one of the finest grounds in the state.
It may be recalled that the chief minister, through a video conferencing, had laid the foundation stones for two development projects at Tamenglong district headquarters on August 28, 2020.
The two new development projects included development of a natural grass football ground at Mini Stadium Tamenglong and construction of a library-cum-employment information centre.
The district administration said there are plans to install a cycling track of about 480 metres along the ground and many more are coming up within this project.
Most of the major district-level events are held at the Mini Stadium every year. Hopefully the upgradation and renovation work of the stadium would be completed at the earliest.
