Mass COVID-19 testing carried out in Tamenglong

A COVID-19 mass testing was carried out at the district headquarters Tamenglong on Monday at Jadonang Park. A total of 82 passersby from Tamenglong bazaar were tested during the drive, of which four persons tested positive for COVID-19 while 78 persons tested negative.

The district task force is likely to continue the mass testing on Tuesday. Tamenglong district headquarter from ward No I to X is under containment zone following detection of COVID-19 positive cases among the local people. The containment period has been extended till June 11. 

Despite the restriction imposed by the district magistrate Tamenglong, people have started venturing out from their homes. In response, the district task force rounded up the violators of the containment order and sent them for mass testing at Jadonang Park Tamenglong district headquarters. 

Tamenglong district on Monday recorded six new COVID-19 positive cases from various testing centres. Chief medical officer Tamenglong reported that at least 40 COVID-19 positive patients recovered on Monday while another six patients were kept at COVID-19 isolation ward at the district hospital. 

 Meanwhile, a COVID-19 positive woman delivered her baby safely at the COVID-19 isolation ward.
