Manipur COVID-19 tally crosses 53000-mark; 14 more die

Manipur recorded 791 new COVID-19 positive cases on Friday.

Manipur on Friday recorded 791 new COVID-19 positive cases, pushing the state's tally to 53,690, while the death toll surged to 863 with 14 more fatalities, according to the latest update from the state health department.

In the last 24 hours, the State Level Covid-19 deaths Audit Committee reported three COVID-19 deaths from Imphal West, eight from Imphal East and one each from Bishnupur, Thoubal and Kangpokpi, a release from the Common Covid-19 Control Room.

Of the new Covid positive cases, 167 are  from Imphal East, 271 from Imphal West, 84 from Thoubal, 52 from Kakching, 49 from Bishnupur, 89 from Churachandpur, three from Ukhrul, 23 from Chandel, nine from Senapati, three from Tamenglong, six from tengnoupal, 24 from Kangpokpi, six from Kamjong, from from Noney and one from Jiribam, the release stated.

Meanwhile, 592 persons have recovered, out of which 380 are from home isolation, the release stated, adding that the cumulative number of recovered cases is 43779 and the total number of active cases is 9048 and the recovery rate fell to 81.54 per cent.

The release also stated that a total of 928 D-type oxygen cylinders and 410 B-type oxygen cylinders have been made available to different health facilities of the state and the Central Medical Store in the Directorate of Health Services has 650 D type cylinders in stock. The district hospitals and the government institutions have 378 D type cylinders and 54 B filled cylinders.

Meanwhile, a total of 4,03,677 have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur. The cumulative number of black fungus in the state remained three as no new case was reported on Friday.
