Black Fungus in Delhi: 1,044 mucormycosis cases, 89 deaths till Wednesday, says Health Minister Satyendar Jain

There are 863 active cases of black fungus in Delhi as of Wednesday.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain on Thursday said that the national capital has recorded as many as 1,044 cases black fungus or mucormycosis and 89 deaths till Wednesday.

Addressing a press conference, the health minister informed that Delhi has recorded 92 recoveries from the infection, leaving the number of active cases at 863.

Jain further informed that there is shortage of medicines to treat the infection.

Meanwhile, Delhi registered 576 new COVID-19 cases on Wednesday, taking the city's caseload to 14,27,439, while the death toll surged to 24,402 with 103 more fatalities. The positivity rate in the national capital stands at 0.78 per cent, according to the state health bulletin.
