Covid testing centre in Ukhrul to be shifted to ADC building

Ukhrul district has been under curfew since May 8, following the escalation of a second wave of Covid-19 spread in Manipur.

Chief medical officer Ukhrul Dr Kapangring on Wednesday announced that the existing Covid testing centre at the district hospital Ukhrul will be relocated to ADC building as work to finish construction of hospital building resumes.   

The district has been under curfew since May 8, following the escalation of a second wave of Covid-19 spread in Manipur. After a long spell of positive spikes, Covid-19 situation saw rapid improvement as the daily case dropped from five on Tuesday to just three positive cases on Wednesday, while containment orders have been revoked from the residences of nine patients.

There are 94 COVID-19 active cases in the district while 27 Covid-19 positive patients have been discharged, according to district surveillance officer, Ukhrul.

On Wednesday, the district magistrate Ukhrul had sealed, barred entry and exit of population from the two containment areas at Hungpung village and directed to initiate active surveillance of the Covid cases with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, extending support to the Covid-19 frontline healthcare workers of the district, caretaker chairman ADC Ukhrul Dr Yaronsho Ngalung donated essential food items including vegetables, milk, egg etc. to the district hospital Ukhrul staff who have been tirelessly performing their duties, and for all the inmates of Covid isolation ward at district hospital Ukhrul.
