The district magistrate Tamenglong on Tuesday extended containment areas in Tamenglong ward No I to X, including Inriangluang village and Farmland following detection of Covid positive persons from among the locals, and observing the need for contact tracing.
All shops and markets have been completely closed since May 12. The busy town bore a deserted look till Wednesday.
In another order, the district magistrate Tamenglong removed the containment order from Tabanglong and Kahulong village.
He also informed that the aggressive mass COVID-19 testing drive has begun and urged everyone to give full support and cooperation to the medical team. The testing drive will be conducted at any village or ward where the medical department felt the need and required.
Meanwhile, with the detection of nine new COVID-19 positive cases in Tamenglong on Wednesday, the number of COVID-19 active cases surged to 158 till the time of filing this report. Six COVID-19 positive patients recovered on Wednesday.
