The Manipur government on Tuesday has ordered closure of all schools (government, government aided including private Schools etc) located in the state with immediate effect and until further orders in public interest.
The order was issued in view of the prevailing situation of the second wave of COVID-19 pandemic in the state, besides promulgation of curfew and to ensure safety and allay the fear and apprehensions among the students, teaching and non-teaching staffs of the schools during the pandemic, stated the order signed by the commissioner (Education S) T Ranjit Singh.
Stating that online classes will continue as usual, it further ordered that all coaching classes and private tuition for school students located within the state as well as all boarding and hostels in schools and private hostels accommodating students will continue to remain closed.
"The prevailing situation of the COVID-19 positive cases vis-a-vis the numbers of deaths occurred due to COVID-19 pandemic has been examined by the state government and after a thorough examination of all such COVID related cases, the state government is of the view that there is still a need to close down all schools located within Manipur State in public interest," the order stated.
On April 26, taking into consideration all relevant aspects related to the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic, the state sovernment had issued an order declaring the commencement of summer vacation with effect from May 1 till May 31 for the academic session 2021-22 in all government, aided and private Schools affiliated to the BOSEM and COHSEM.
