Weather Forecast: Heavy to very heavy rainfall to hit Northeast India region

Thunderstorm with lighting is “very likely” at isolated places in Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on Tuesday.

Heavy to very heavy rainfall and thunderstorm with lighting is “very likely” at isolated places over Northeast India region in Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Sikkim on Tuesday, June 1, according to the Union Ministry of Earth and Science.

Heavy Rainfall is predicted at isolated places over Odisha, Konkan and Goa, Telangana, Interior Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and  Karaikal and Kerala & Mahe

Isolated places in Jammu, Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad, Himachal Pradesh, West Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Odisha, Konkan and Goa, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal are also likely to be hit by thunderstorm and lightning, the ministry stated in a release.

Meanwhile, lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph is "very likely" in some isolated places of East Rajasthan, Punjab and Haryana, Chandigarh and Delhi.

Thunderstorm with lightning, hail and gusty winds with speed reaching 40-50 kmph is "very likely" at isolated places over Vidarbha. Lightning and gusty winds with speed reaching 30-40 kmph is expected to hit isolated places over Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, Coastal Andhra Pradesh & Yanam, North Interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe, the release stated.

Strong Wind (wind speed 40-50 gusting to 60 kmph) is very likely over East central, Northwest, Southwest Arabian Sea. Squally Weather (wind speed 40-50 kmph) very likely along and off Kerala coast and Lakshadweep area.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas, the ministry cautioned.
