Manipur's COVID-19 crosses 50000-mark with 869 new positive cases
COVID-19 claimed 14 more lives in Manipur in a span of 24 hours.
COVID-19 caseload in Manipur on Monday surpassed the 50000-mark after 869 more persons tested positive for the viral infection in a span of 24 hours, according to the latest update by the state health department.
While the state's COVID-19 soared to 50,751, the death toll mounted to 807 with 14 more fatalities, including seven deaths from Imphal West, three from Imphal East, two from Kakching and one each from Bishnupur and Churachandpur, it stated.
The new positive cases included 866 from the general population and three personnel from the Central Armed Police Force, a release issued by the COVID-19 Common Control Room stated.
Among the new COVID-19 positive cases, Imphal East and Imphal West continued to report the highest number of daily cases at 312 and 250 respectively. Ninety-eight cases were reported from Churachandpur, 61 from Bishnupur, 56 from Thoubal, 25 from Senapati, 15 from Kakching, 13 from Kangpokpi, 12 from Tamenglong, eight from Ukhrul, and four each from Jiribam and Kamjong, as per the release.
All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing are in place, the release stated.
Meanwhile, 546 more persons recovered from COVID-19 in Manipur, taking the cumulative number of recovered cases to 41,153. The number of COVID-19 cases stands at 8,791 as of Monday and the state's recovery rate is 81.08 per cent, it stated.
It further stated that a total of 1,301 D type oxygen cylinders and 550 B type oxygen cylinder have been made available to different health facilities of the state in the past 24 hours.
The number of people who have been administered COVID-19 vaccine in Manipur reached 3,82534, according to the latest update from the state health department.
