Thoubal: COVID-19 mass testing programme held at Heirok

A COVID-19 Mass Testing programme organised by the District Surveillance Team Covid-19 in association with the Heirok Kendra Relief Committee against COVID-19 and Task Force of Heirok Part-I, under the overall supervision of CMO, Thoubal was conducted at Umang Laikon, Heirok Part-I on Saturday.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA of Heirok assembly constituency Th Radheshyam called for a united effort to contain the spread of the virus in the assembly constituency. He appealed to the public appeal to strictly follow the SOPs issued by the state government.

The MLA further said that the percentage of people testing positive for COVID-19 is still high and that there is a strong suspicion that there might be several other unreported positive cases in Heirok. Mass testing camps will also be conducted at other hotspots in Heirok, he said, urging people to come out for tests without any hesitancy.

Appealing to the people to avail the facilities provided by the government to get vaccinated, Th Radheshyam also lauded the efforts of the medical staff, office bearers of the local club, and members of Heirok Task force in successfully conducting the mass testing event.

It is reported that out of a total of 261 people who got tested at the programme, 21 turned out positive for COVID-19.
