The Rongmei Naga Youth Organization (RNYO) has called on every civic citizen and responsible leaders to rise up together in the move for removing anti-social and terrorist activity in the society.

RNYO urged the people to not tolerate any criminal organisations running freely in society, and appealed to all to cooperate and support the move for social cleansing and reformation.

The crimes committed by terrorist groups are a violation of human rights and democratic social norms denying people their fundamental rights to freedom and liberty in their land, stated a release issued by the secretary general RNYO A Ripuilan Pamei on Wednesday.

RNYO highlighted the necessity to initiate a public mass movement for social cleansing, creating a better social order, progress and peaceful society from the chaotic society and public unrest due to incessant activities of the underground activities.

The release stated that the recent incident at Longmai Part V near Assam Rifles Camp where two cadres of terrorists were gunned down on the evening of 25 May signals the incessant presence of terrorists in society.

The incident happened even after the declaration of civil voluntary organisations denouncing the particular underground faction who go about terrorising the public claiming lives even of their own cadres, it added.

On the other hand, the counterpart faction Zeliangrong United Front -Jenchui Group goes about hunting down the rebel terrorist faction resulting in loss of lives. Both are seen to be causing insecurity and threats to normal public life, the release stated.

“The fact is unfortunate and resented. However, RNYO neither subscribe nor oppose the concept and initiatives of Zeliangrong United Front which seeks to keep the torch alive and uphold the historical rights of the Zeliangrong people determining the common political rights of the people,” it stated.

There is a compelling duty for states and every citizen to protect the general interest of public security and the rule of law with regard to human rights and fundamental rights of citizens as enshrined in the Constitution of India, it added.

The release further added that the current socio-political scenario largely in the Zeliangrong society depicts downfall and destruction of the social fibre and cohesiveness of the people due to many complicated crises and conflicts arising mostly with the influences of the underground activities.

“RNYO defy all adverse rule of laws contrary to the interest and beneficial works of the community. As a responsible social Organisation, we oppose and defy all criminal and terrorist activities in the society,” it stated.

RNYO appreciates the initiatives of certain Rongmei Youth who perceive and value the essence of defending common land and people living in the present states of Manipur, Nagaland and Assam.

Nevertheless, RNYO shall not consent or subscribe to any faction whose interests are self-vested and greed based, it added.
