Manipur: Covid task force launches ‘Mask Kangpokpi’ campaign

The Kangpokpi Area Covid task force led by its president Haolet Khongsai and general secretary Hekim Hangshing embarked on the campaign to ensure that the SOPs and guidelines are strictly followed by the local populace in the town.

Kangpokpi Area Covid Task Force which is one of the seven area-wise COVID task forces in Kangpokpi assembly constituency on Saturday launched a 'Mask-Kangpokpi' campaign in the district headquarters.

The Covid task force along with the six remaining task forces were entrusted to ensure that Covid advisories or guidelines are strictly followed by the public in Kangpokpi assembly constituency.

They were also entrusted to monitor the price hike of essential commodities in their respective areas, and also promote awareness on COVID-19 and its appropriate behaviours to the masses.

The Kangpokpi Area Covid task force led by its president Haolet Khongsai and general secretary Hekim Hangshing embarked on the campaign to ensure that the SOPs and guidelines are strictly followed by the local populace in the town.

They came across a few people coming out from their homes for emergency needs without masks, and the task force distributed the masks provided by the local MLA while strictly cautioning them not to venture out without wearing masks in the future.

Some children, youngsters and adults were also seen loitering around without any reason and they were provided masks and sent back to their respective homes by the Covid task force while cautioning not to come out in future unless there is an emergency.

Speaking to the media, president Kangpokpi Area Covid task force Haolet Khongsai said that they have started monitoring the area and will take up other activities including ensuring various Covid appropriate behaviours, price hike, awareness, etc.

He also said that they along with other authorities concerned will also start properly sealing containment zones declared in the area while random testing shall also be conducted to those loitering around without any reason in the area after obtaining permission from the authority concerned.

He appealed to the residents of Kangpokpi area to contact the Kangpokpi Area Covid task force at any time concerning Covid-related cases.

The task force also extended gratitude to the local MLA for providing various personal protective equipment, including masks, sanitisers, gloves, PPE kits, etc.
