The Manipur Cricket Association (MNCA) has donated 40-D type oxygen cylinders, amounting to Rs 8 lakh to the state government through the director of health Manipur.
The donation was led by its president MLA RK Imo Singh and it was done for the welfare of the people of the state, stated a release issued by honorary secretary of MNCA Singam Priyananda Singh.
It stated that the Covid pandemic has severely affected the lives of the people of Manipur, with thousands of people getting infected and many succumbing to this disease.
MNCA hopes that the donated oxygen cylinders will be able to save more lives in the state, especially in the Covid care centres and that all sections of the society must come together to fight the dreaded disease by getting vaccinated, wearing masks, sanitising hands and maintaining social and physical distancing, it added,
Vice president of MNCA Laigthangbam Binoy Singh, Priyananda Singh, honorary treasurer Leishangthem Ronel Singh and honorary joint secretary Konthoujam Bobin Singh were also present during the donation, the release stated.
MNCA president RK Imo Singh had earlier distributed 10 ICU BPAP ventilators amounting to around Rs 22 lakh to the state government.
Meanwhile, Global Shapers Community Imphal Hub also donated 10 B-type filled oxygen cylinders towards the Chief Minister's COVID-19 Relief fund on Friday.
Under secretary, chief minister's office, Roshan Sapam stated that the donation has been acknowledged for use of COVID-19 management.
