A release by president of HJP, Pukhrambam Maipak Singh said that the state is severely affected by the second wave of COVID-19. To combat the situation, the state government has imposed various restrictions like containment zones and curfew since the past few days.

The government’s restrictions may help in fighting the pandemic; however, daily wages earners are facing more challenges to meet their ends. Moreover, many poverty stricken people are yet to receive their monthly PDS items during this critical situation, it added.

Helping poor people during this pandemic is equally important as taking up various steps to control the spread of COVID- 19 in the state. Considering the worsening condition in terms of livelihood and economy of the state, it is much necessary to conduct a collective meeting that includes CVOs and political parties of both opposition and ruling, the release stated.
